Toddlers and the toys they never play with...
I never understood why my toddler wasn't interested in playing with her large box of toys. I mean, there were some pretty cool items inside.
Instead, I would find her walking around with random things like a lanyard, a cup, and a spoon. I didn't give it much thought until I spoke to Almas, the guest of this week's episode.
Almas Asad is a primary school educator turned stay-at-home mom who is doing some fantastic things in creating learning experiences for small children based on Montessori principles.
My realization after our conversation was the importance of simplicity. Like us, toddlers get overwhelmed with a lot of toys and they benefit from less. I ended up packing that big box of toys away and just left a few toys.
We even got a membership at our local toy library so that we can rotate her toys. She’s enjoying the variety and it's simplified our lives a lot.
I hope you moms, dads, or even aunties and uncles enjoy this episode!
Till next time,
Mifrah
